[2.1.2015] I have some SUPER fun news…

Super News

{5.29.2012} hugs

Dude… I have some wonderful news to share.  Remember back in December when I was tickled pink to guest design for the Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge?  Well, now I am BEYOND thrilled to be re-joining the team permanently!!!!  Wait, what?  Eeek.  I’m so excited.  I just adore all things Paper Smooches and I just LOVE challenges.  I couldn’t be happier.

Are you watching the Super Bowl (for those in the US) today?  I’m watching commercials and eating good.  Lol  I’m also not going anywhere.  The Super Bowl is in town and there are a crazy amount of people here.  Nuts-O.  I’m staying home.

So let’s get to the goods.  We are kicking off February with an ANYTHING GOES challenge.  Pull out your ALL your Paper Smooches stamps and dies and go crazy!!!

Anything Goes PSS

blossoming buds, borderlicious

I was feeling simple and dainty.  Blossoming Buds is one of my all time favorite stamp sets.  I could use this set over and over and over again.  This is about as one layer as it can get.  I HAD to add the sequins.  Just had too, you understand right?  I love the simple little bit of sparkle it adds.  Don’t you just adore that sweet little rose?  So lovely.

Anything goes this week, so let your imagination fly.  Link up your project at the Paper Smooches SPARKS blog by Saturday, 11:59pm PST.

[1.22.2105] unity thursday hop

Unity Thursday Blog Hop

Time for some more THURSDAY fun with the Unity design team.  If you haven’t been hopping along, all the action starts on the Unity blog.  There’s always fun stuff going on.

Beautiful Life, Blessed Memories

I’m inking up the new sentiment kit for this month’s {Be Inspired} challenge.  There are a variety of different sentiments to choose from.  Many can be used for the front or inside of cards depending on what you’d like to say.

I started out with embossing the heart and sentiment on vellum.  I tried out tons of different patterned paper to put underneath.  So many were too bold or busy and made it hard to see the sentiment.  So, I used some watercolor to create the blue-green background paper.  Much softer.  I was too impatient to let the watercolor paper dry completely so I sewed the vellum on.  It puckered in an interesting way and I kinda love it.  It is puffy and crinkly in a cool soft way.  I think I’m going to play around with this idea again and create a set in different colors with different sentiments in the set.

[1.8.2015] unity thursday – pitcher us together

Unity Thursday

Time for some more THURSDAY fun with the Unity design team.  If you haven’t been hopping along, all the action starts on the Unity blog.  There’s always fun stuff going on.

I’m sharing a tag I’ve created using the current stamp of the week.

dahlhouse-designs-_-IMG_3906

Sooooo cute!  I can’t help be a little bias towards this week’s stamp, it is my little design.  Nothing better than a pitcher of beer with my hubs.  I thought it would make for a cute little stamp.  Now, this could be a pitcher of anything really… beer, sangria, lemonade, kool-aid.  Your pitcher can be filled with anything.

I used Distress Markers to watercolor this tag and created a little snippet if you are interested in watching my process.

my personal giveaway | a little thank you from me

I must admit, the blog was a little quieter this year.  Lots of life events to steal away my crafty blog time.  I stayed busy with the Unity Stamp Company design team, designing stamps for Unity and the Tag You’re It Challenge design team. Not to mention keeping up with family and friend’s events requiring cards.  Ha.

I have a couple of thank you cards to celebrate my THANKS today.  I really can’t express how THANKFUL I am that you take the time to visit me.  My little heart is warmed greatly by your visits, your comments and love.  THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

dahlhouse designs | IMG_3896

My 3 furry babies spent the weekend with their grandparents after Christmas.  My husband and I were married in Vegas 11 years ago on the 28th.  We tend to celebrate in Vegas every chance we get.  My parents went above and beyond this time as my little Lulu ripped off her toenail.  Yikes.  Lulu took it in stride and my parents were troopers and took her to the vet for us.  Grandparents of the year, right!?!  My little rugrats sent their grandparents this thank you for taking such good care of them.

I just adore this owl, he is my fave for sure.  I paper pieced his body, colored his legs with Copics and then added some glossy accents to his glasses.  Isn’t he darling?  I paired him with the perfect sentiment for today…  because I want to thank ALL of you with all my heart!!! ♥︎♥︎♥︎

I can’t thank my blog friends enough for sticking by me and if you are a new visitor, welcome.  I wish you a year full of happiness, joy and blessings.  Happy New Year.

[12.28.2014] paper smooches SPARKS

More SPARKS fun

SPARKS+BADGE

Boy, did this month fly by fast. This is my last week to guest design with the Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge!!! I’ve seriously had a blast playing along. A great big THANK YOU to Paper Smooches for letting me play along.

This week’s challenge…

{1.14.2012} SPARKS designer drafts

I have this thing about switching up sketches, which they are good for. You take the bones of the sketch and then make it yours. I made a tall card instead of a landscape card and then tilted my patterned paper at an angle over top, like the sketch. Next, I did some masking with the deer from Happy Camper and the flowers from Blossoming Buds. I used two different sentiments from Happy Camper and Birthday Sampler to create my sentiment. After stamping, I used my Cameo Pixscan mat to cut out the talk bubble and flowers with deer. I colored everything with Copics and added some sparkle with a Wink of Stella pen. Last, I tied a little bow on my deer to mimic the bow from the sketch.

Check out the other girls sharing their SPARKS cards this week too.

Now it is your turn to come and play!!! Just CLICK HERE to find out all the details and to link up your project.

[12.21.2014] wanna sketch highlights

Wanna Sketch no. 22 Highlights

Thank you all for your beautiful card for this month and the whole year!!!  Each round I just love seeing what you all have done.  Let’s get to our highlights for Wanna Sketch #22.

2013wanna-sketch-highlights

Joyce

Don’t you just love Joyce’s holiday scene?  I sure do.  From the red brick buildings, yellow cab and Santa in flight, all of it is pure perfection.

Nora

I absolutely adore the sting of lights on Nora’s card.  From the bright colors to the glossy accents, it all works in perfect brilliance.

Therese

It is no secret, I’m one of Therese’s biggest fans!!!  I love this lady and her beautiful style.  This card is just beautiful perfection.  I love the flow of flowers and the balance of movement.  Just stunning.

Well folks, I’m afraid Wanna Sketch is going on a little vacation.  It is that time of year, too much celebrating going on and not enough time for me to get crafty.  So for now, I am so THRILLED to have spent 2014 with you all and I wish you the most amazing Christmas and New Year.  There will be some action on the blog still and Wanna Sketch will return next year.  Hugs.

dahlhouse designs | oh deer 12.2014

I had so much fun making these mini coffee cup cards.  They are going to be the perfect little topper to some of my coffee loving friend’s gifts.  I used my Cameo to cut out the coffee cups, stamped my sweet little reindeer and colored them in with Copics.  I created the side tags by cutting strips of paper, rounding the tops and punching a hole.  I die cut a heart out of the red ones and notched the bottom with scissors.

Thanks for stopping by. and be sure to hop on back to Amy’s blog to visit the rest of the hoppers.
