I {heart} Trees…

Update… I totally forgot to mention which challenges I am entering this in.  I used both the Sweet Sunday #16 sketch and CPS Challenge sketch combined into one.  I was inspired by Lucy, England too. Here is the link to her card http://www.flickr.com/photos/30551735@N05/3460010064/ and submitted it to the Hero Arts Blog challenge as well.  This was a full combined effort for a card.  I love how it turned out though.  Amazing how so many different inspirations can go into just one little card.

I didn’t use an owl, shocker I know.  It was hard, but my owls are tired and I need to give them a little break.  So, I have moved on to trees.  I think this is one of my {favorite} cards.  There are a few reasons why… I just love this color combo.  Green, brown and orange are really some of my fav colors right now.  I’m also really loving grey and somehow they all seemed to go together.  I love the simplicity of it and yet is is full of texture and a little surprise.

I ran the white label die cut through the Cuttlebug Tiny Bubbles embossing folder and then inked it with some grey ink.  It helped to bring out the texture and mute the brightness of the white.  I then kinda free handed a tree and cut it out.  I ran the treetop through the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder and sanded it so the dots would really pop and also sanded the edge.  I wasn’t so sure how the texture on texture would look, but I think it turned out nice. I tied some orange floss around the label and called it done.

I was much smarter about my stamp embossing this time.  I wanted it white and made sure no matter what, it would be white!!! I had a bit of trouble with my last card (my white pearl powder was actually clear, not white).  I stamped the Hero Arts Birthday Message in white ink and then embossed with white embossing powder.  Thank goodness it was actually white!
