{5.1.2012} post no. 1

**this is post no. 1 for today… stay tuned for more**

Unity KOM Sketch Challenge

It is the 1st and that means Unity released a new kit of the month.
You will want to click HERE to see the full kit my friends.

AND…

It also means we start a new KOM sketch challenge.

Here is the new sketch.  LOTS of possibilities with this simple layout.

I decided to turn the oval into a rectangle.  I’m more of a straight line kind of girl.  I stamped/masked the flowers and then used a pencil to draw a box.  Using an X-acto knife and a ruler, I cut the box out and then used my scissors to trim around the flowers to allow them to hang outside the box.  I know there is a name for this technique, but for the life of me I can’t remember it.  Basically, the flowers and box are all a single layer, but looks pretty cool.  I wanted to keep it pretty monochromatic with the grey, white and black, so the flowers are shaded with some soft pink Copics.  All the images are from the May 2012 kit of the month.

The PRIZE is huge for the sketch challenge
A FREE kit of the month PLUS 100 Unity stamps!
Amazing, right?
Hope you will play along with us this month.
You can click HERE for all the deets.

I had to giggle, because I’m so very sure that the technique is called ‘out of the box’ – which is pretty much what you called it 😉
The pink shading is just the right amount of POP – love it! – and the sentiment is super 🙂
