{6.11.2013} oh danny boy…

i love babies…

Mainly the furry kind.  Human babies are OK too, but four legged creatures make my heart all a melty.   We have been waiting for this little face for 11 months…

This is my cousin’s new colt… Danny.  Gah, he is just too adorable for words.  I wish I could see him in person, but he lives half the country away.  This is his momma’s first foal and she did a good job don’tcha think.  Heehee.

I made my cousin quite a few announcements and sent them on their way {doh, I forgot to photograph those}.  But I also included this welcome baby card and gift too.

Oh.em.gee is right… danny is too adorable and that is the first thing I said when I saw his picture.  I found a horse shape for Photoshop online and created my own Silhouette file.  I don’t feel comfortable sharing another person’s creation (even though it was a freebie and I converted it to a new format) otherwise I would have happily shared the file. You can find the shape file here.  You could create your own if you’d like.

This is what I do… first I open my image in Photoshop and fill it in perfectly solid black.  Then I remove all the white and crop the image.  Save the file as a .png and then open it in the Silhouette Studio Software.  Click on the Trace window which is a blue box and a yellow outline.  Click the ‘Select Trace Area’ and make sure you highlight the entire area.  Depending on the image, you will either want just the outer outline (like I used for the horse in my card) or the Trace button (which will do both the outline and inner lines (say you had a tire, it would cut the outline of the tire and the inner wheel).  Then I will save it to my library so I can use it over and over again.

After I cut the horse out, I popped him up on the card, placed some fun chevron paper behind and brought out my Paper Smooches Slang Gang stamp set.  LOVE this set.  It is full of words I say on an hourly basis.  LOVE it.  The inside says ‘seriously adorbs!’

This week’s challenge at Simon Says Stamp are masculine cards.  Danny is a boy, so this qualifies right?

I couldn’t think of the perfect gift to send Danny’s way, so I’m starting his treat fund!  I know it will be put to good use.  Ha.  I see lots of carrots and apples headed his way.

Hope your day is full of treats too!

Human babies aren’t nearly as cute as animal babies! Plus the crying…good lord the crying….baby animals just chill. Super sweet congrats card – and I love the treat fund 🙂
