[5.31.2015] paper smooches sparks

Last Day of May.

And the FIRST day of the new SPARKS challenge from Paper Smooches.  An extra week in the month means we get to play with Anything Goes again.  Woo hoo.

Anything Goes PSS

dahlhouse designs | 5.2015 hello

I’m bringing back foiled flowers this week.  Jennifer McGuire shared one of my favorite foiling techniques in THIS VIDEO.  Then, she shared a different technique using embossing powder HERE.  I’ve done the laser printer before, so I thought I would try the embossing powder trick this time.  I’m pleased to say it worked quite well.  In comparison, the laser printer produces a much smoother effect.  The embossing powder has a little more texture and slightly raised, but certainly not enough to turn me off this technique.  It is much faster than scanning my stamped images into my computer and printing them off again.

I stamped the flowers from Botanicals 1 onto my die cut tag from Gift Tags 2.  Hit it with some clear embossing powder and then ran it through my laminator with gold foil.  It is quite the stunning effect in real life, I’m still having such a hard time capturing it on film.  I stamped the lovely “hello” from Bold Buzzwords in a yummy mint color.  Last, I added a little butterfly and some twine before popping it up on my 6×3 inch card base.

Link up your project at the Paper Smooches SPARKS blog by Saturday, 11:59pm PST.
