The Project

The Details

I tend to reach for my Distress Inks to watercolor with the most. I love how vibrant they are and they really do work on almost any medium.
I’m using regular cardstock today – Neenah Solar White 80 lb to be exact. It has a more muted effect. The color doesn’t move as much as watercolor paper but it totally works. I just wanted to show you it can be done. You don’t have to have a watercolor paper to get that watercolor look. Sure, it may not be as vibrant or as beautifully blended as it would look on watercolor paper. But it is stunning. I love it and you can do it too.
I choose to use cardstock because it is very stark white. I love that. I’m loving the white on white look lately with a pop of color. So just a hint of watercolor, a bit of shine from the metallic die-cut ‘thanks’ and the matching sequins bring this card all together in the most beautiful way.

Assemble This! Video
I’ve created a quick video tutorial on how this card was made. We’ll watercolor and then I’ll show you how I popped that fun metallic sentiment up using foam on the card as well.
Thanks for joining me today. I hope you are inspired by today’s project. If you create something, I’d love to see it. Join us in the Unity Show & Tell Facebook group to share your card and tag me.

I never have as much luck blending on Neenah, but maybe I should try the 80lb and more patience, that may help too lol. These butterflies are beautiful and so is your card Lisa!
Such a pretty card! I have zero luck using any water at all on cardstock, so I am in awe of the look you achieved!
