Hello Fresh Start…

I am starting out the new year with a brand new medium… Karin Brushpro Watercolors. I’m so excited to try them out using the beautiful new Hello Fresh Start sentiment kit from Unity Stamp Company. It has a gorgeous spray of roses and lots of beautiful sentiments to send all year long. This is my first time using the markers so I anxious to see how it turns out.

Assemble This! Video

Watch along as I assemble this card sharing my process and tips on how this card was created. It is my first time using Karin markers and I learned tons.

The Project

The Details

So I caved. Black Friday happened and I couldn’t resist treating myself to trying the Karin Brushmarker Pro watercolor markers. I know, I know. How many coloring mediums does a girl really need? Hehe. Well, apparently I absolutely needed one more and I’m so glad I took the plunge.

I had to use use them first on the brand new sentiment kit for 2020 – Hello Fresh Start. Don’t you just love the cascade of roses? I couldn’t wait to watercolor these blooms. I’m using Pale Orange, Soft Peach, and Rose Pink for the blooms and Sulphur Yellow, Lime Green, and Olive Green for the leaves.

These markers have the most intense and gorgeous pigment. I love the rich deep colors and how you can control the intensity just by adjusting the amount of water, direct to paper or using a palette.

The video above includes my first impression of the Karin markers and how I colored the pink roses. I share some things I learned as I was getting used to the medium and some tips to help you out as well. I definitely need more time with them. But I’m loving the results so far.

The teal and purple flowers were colored basically the same way just with different colors: Turquoise, Cool Aqua, Violet Blue, and Pale Violet. I kept the card design simple because I really wanted the watercoloring of those amazing roses to be the star of the card.

Thanks for joining me today. I hope you are inspired by today’s project. If you create something, I’d love to see it. Join us in the Unity Show & Tell Facebook group to share your card and tag me.

Yes, I am trying not to ‘need’ these markers and so I wonder if I should really watch this lol. As your flowers are so very beautiful I am thinking that you are going to say they are great…..

I kept talking myself out of them but the deal was too good! Haha. I do like them. Quite a bit actually.

Thanks a lot, Lisa! Do you know how hard I am trying to NOT invest in these markers?!? 😀 So you have to show how gorgeously they colour on these two cards! I’m just going to believe that it’s all in your skill and nothing to do with the medium. 😉

Your comments really make my day, thank you!
