{9.22.2012} TCS#4 triangles

This week,  The Cameo Spotlight challenge is all about arrows.  I had a new embossing folder arrive and what perfect timing!!!  The green panel has a subtle embossed triangle pattern.  I love it!!!  And I added one more triangle as a tab at the top.  I had a square scrap of yellow I was about to throw away when it hit me to fold it in half to make one more arrow.   My Cameo file is the little notebook paper.  I love that I can resize it to ANY size I need.  And the fishing image was trimmed out of the patterned paper used in the background.

We also have an amazing sponsor for this challenge.  Lettering Delights has generously offered a $25 Gift Certificate to our winner this week.  So exciting.  You can find all the deets for the challenge HERE.

I am also linking this up to the Asymmetry Challenge in the Moxie Fab World

{9.11.2012} tuning in

This is a quickie post.  You might have seen this fun card on the Paper Made Bakery blog last week.  Well, I love it so much, I just had to enter it into the Focal Point Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

Everything in the card is positioned to make the microphone on the cork the star.  Even the papers lead your eye there.  Initially, I wasn’t going to include any patterned paper until I had an oops moment.  When you stamp on cork, it takes a long time to dry.  Well, I flipped my stamped cork over on top of my card to add some pop dots.  Yeah, I got ink all over the front of my card.  GAH!  Insert patterned paper (which looks way cooler than my initial plan).  LOVE that!

PS… everything used to make this card was included in this month’s Paper Made Bakery kit.

{9.8.2012} how about a little color

Bring on the COLOR for The Cameo Spotlight challenge.

I had fun with this color combo!  Perfect colors for a guy card.  I’ve had this mustache file from the Silhouette store for awhile, so it was about time I tried to cut one out.  Mustaches are still trendy in my book.

I’m also going to link this up to the Gallon/Quart/Pint Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

You can find all the challenge deets over on The Cameo Spotlight blog.
Hope you will play along!

{9.2.2012} sparks in motion

Jump Start

I haven’t stamped in over 2 weeks!  Thus, I needed a small jump start and turned to one of my favorite challenges for help.  Paper Smooches has their Picture Perfect SPARKS challenge up this week.

Check out this awesome inspiration:

Crazy pattern right?  I was stumped on this one for a little bit.  Then, I started to look at the layers of colors and squares and used that for my inspiration.  Instead of squares, I used circles and picked out a few of the colors in the photo.

This was a quickie card.  I really didn’t have time to craft today, but it had been so long I needed to get my brain ready for tomorrow.  I have quite a few deadlines to meet and my crafty brain is on a bit of a vacay.  Time to practice.  Ha.  I had fun layering the circles and the colors.  It is an unusual color combo of gray, dark blue, magenta and green.  But I like it.  I carried over the colors of the circles to the balloon to help balance out the white space.

I am also entering this into the Movement Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  For me, the movement starts at the top with the circles, pulls your eye down to the sentiment and over to finish off at the little balloon.  Movement is so much fun to create with the stamps.  Hope you try this technique out, Cath has a perfect explanation on the MFW post.

{8.23.2012} you color my world

Hip Hoppin’

We are Hip Hopping along today with the Unity design team.  If you didn’t start at the beginning of the hop, make sure you head over to the Unity blog.

Paper and ink… pure and simple… just my style.
Can you guess where all these stamps came from???
You betcha, the amazing August 2012 kit of the month.

My favorite time of the year is AUTUMN and when the leaves change color.  Now, mind you, that does not happen where I live.  We have to drive up north to see any leaf action.  But it is gorgeous and worth the drive.  That is what I thought of when combining this sentiment with the leaf.  Autumn really does color my world in the sweetest way.

I am also entering this into the Minty Fresh Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  I love mint and decided to create a minty leaf changing into the beautiful yellows and oranges of autumn.

That is all from me, head on over to the amazing RENEE next!!!!

{7.30.2012} oh yea!

I’m a Moxie Fabber girl.

Honestly, I CAN’T believe it!

Me… Moxie Fab???  Little ol’ me?
Not really sure what qualifies me, but I’m super honored.
(actually more than that, I just don’t have the words to express it)
I just like to do my thing and HOPE someone else likes it.  Ha.

Cath, you have MADE my YEAR!
Thank you so much for this invitation.

{5.28.2012} shabby time

Happy Memorial Day!

I’m spending this day with my hubby and my family.  We are meeting for lunch since my fun aunt is in town.  There might be some crafty time too.  At least I sure hope so!

I have two sweet shabby cards to share today.

They are both from the Paper Made Bakery Portobello Road kit for May 2012.  Plus, I’m submitting them BOTH to the Postage Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  All the wonderful vintage postcard and stamp images made it super easy.

This card just makes me sigh.  Must be all the soft flowery papers and creamy dreamy patterns.  Plus, those yummy postage stamps all lined up are so fun.  There is a mix of flowers and postage and maps.  Something you wouldn’t expect to go together, but they blend so well.  The big butterfly is a die cut and I layered a punched butterfly on top.  The side panel is popped up as well to add a little dimension.  You might be able to see it better in the small photo to the left.

When I finished making the first card, I had some really fabulous scraps left.  I couldn’t bare to toss them, so I turned them into a second card.  The butterfly was punched for the first card, but didn’t have the color contrast I needed against the map butterfly die cut.  But I love how the butterfly in the patterned paper was perfectly outlined by the punch.  So pretty.  And then I had one 10 cent stamp left and the layered strips of paper too.  They all rearranged perfectly to create this collage like card.  Tall and skinny, my new fave card shape.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  If you are in the states, I hope you enjoy your holiday weekend.  I have another full week ahead on the blog.  I have more PMB cards to wrap up, plus lots of yummy Unity.  I can’t believe it, but June 1st is on Friday!  Ack.  That will be a big day as well.  So much fun this week.

{5.24.2012} hip hop

Oh yeah…

We are Hip Hopping along today with the Unity design team.  If you didn’t start at the beginning of the hop, make sure you head over to the Unity blog.

A big deal going on this weekend…

The inspiration for this card came from the Damask & Brocade Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  The damask pattern (and all the images) came from the amazing Love in an Instant kit of the month for May.  I imagined it as a sky backdrop for the clouds and balloon.

That is all from me, head on over to the amazing SHEMAINE next!!!!

{5.21.2012} cupcakes

Seriously?
Have you seen this cupcake?
Yummers.
It is the new Stamp of the Week from Unity.

I had to bring out my Copics for this one.  It took me a long time to color in this delicious cupcake, but it was sure fun.  The inspiration for the splatter came from the Spatter Technique Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  The use of the acetate was actually a fix to cover up an oops.  Heehee.  Originally, I dripped some Shimmerz Vibez directly onto the cardstock.  Um, it is way to wet to do that, plus really sheer.  Great, now what to do?  I decided to cut out the center of the card and replace it with a piece of acetate spattered with the Vibez white.  Ahhh, much better.  There are some little rhinestones in the spatter to help it sparkle a little more.

other: clear acetate sheet

{2.19.2012}

Sunday, Sunday.

Boy, this weekend is just flying by.  After ‘thinking’ really hard on what to create, I managed to squeak out 2 cards yesterday.  All that thinking wore me out.  Ha.  It was fun to play with some challenges again.

Well now… isn’t this just one funky inspiration from the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger!  So much going on and so much to pull from.  Mainly, I pulled the colors and the funky, eclectic feel of the photo.

Do you feel the funk?  Ha.  I tried to mimic the pink and orange wallpaper with the wood grain paper and pink hearts.  The happy birthday tag was made with the circles border punch, my new found favorite technique.  I have a video HERE to show you how I use border punches to make tags.

I’m also die cutting and using the sketch from the current Hero Arts challenge.  Can you believe all the Hero Arts stamps and dies have never been used???  That is just terrible!  It is super fun to play with new stamps, even if they have been in your stash for awhile.

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday.
