[4.3.16] Assemble This! Sketch No. 3

Happy April friends… time to play with a new Assemble This Sketch. It’s a pretty one and I’ll hope it will spark lots of inspiration.

Lots of options again. Something circular in the center… layered or not layered. Up to you. Then something on half of the card in the background. I’m thinking either patterned paper, a background stamp or dry embossing. These are just a few things that popped into my head. Shall we see what happened?

I decided to go for the gold with this sketch. I’ve had this DCWV paper pad forever and I’m bound and determined to make some cards with it. I created the split background with two different patterned papers and then layered my sentiment over the paper doily. So easy peasy.

[3.6.2016] Assemble This! Sketch No. 2

Assemble This! Sketch No. 2

Ok, so were did February go? I did not intend to go so long before the next sketch. Yikes, the whole month got away from me. So let’s kick March off with a bang and a sketch.

This sketch is so full of possibility. I’m just giving you the basic layers. That big, white open box could be filled with so much or nothing at all. That intrigues me with what you come up with. You have free reign on sentiment placement. It could be in that box, below the layers, popped up in tag or some amazing die cut. It would be interesting to flip on its side too. Hmmmm, I may have to play with this one again. Lol.

Lookin’ Foxy

I went pretty straight forward and filled that box with stamped images. I had this adorable fox to play with. He is stamped on watercolor paper and then I used my basic watercolor set to color him in. At the end, I decided to go over him with a black pen to help the details of the stamp pop. The texture of the watercolor paper muted the outline.

[1.31.2016] Assemble This! Sketch No. 1

Assemble This! Sketch No. 1

Hi! So, I’m kinda excited about something. For my long time visitors, do you remember Wanna Sketch? It has been on hiatus for quite a while… a year to be exact. Well, I’m ready to play with sketches again!!! They have been kinda absent from my crafty process this last year and I’ve come to realize how much I miss them and really love that part of my creative process. So, I’m bringing them back, in a different way.

I’d like to introduce you to Assemble This! Sketch! I’m going to combine my two faves, a sketch and a quickie video. You get to see how my sketch came to life in a super quick and simple way.

I used to run a challenge with Wanna Sketch… Assemble This! Sketch is going to be a little different. I’m just going to share the sketch and video for your inspiration only. I’d LOVE for you to let me know if you create something, I’ll definitely come take a peek. But, I won’t have a link up or a set schedule. THIS IS FOR FUN ONLY… for you and for me!!! That makes me super happy. The pressure is too much for my little heart. Fun is so much better.

Clean and simple (CAS)! I’m going back to my roots baby. You are welcome to start here and go crazy. It is just a starting point. You may end up with a completely different card from the sketch or something exactly like it… both are absolutely WONDERFUL! It makes my heart happy to see what you create, it means you were inspired and went where your heart took you. Let’s see where my heart took me.

Travel Wagon

I’m using this beautiful new stamp set from Unity Stamp Co. — Travel Wagon. I’ve stamped it on watercolor paper and then colored with standard watercolor paints. Once it was dry, I added a bit of sparkle with a Wink of Stella pen.

I die cut the tag shape, popped it up over a little paper doily and added a few little cute embellishments to finish it all off. Super duper sweet and girlie. Who says being brave means you can’t be pretty while you do it!

{5.25.2014} inlaid die cuts

Inlaid Die Cuts

I’m using the brand new Need a Squeeze Stamp of the Week by Unity today. I’ve been waiting to try out inlaid die cutting and this stamp was just the inspiration I needed to give it a go. It takes a little planning, on how you want to layout your cuts and in what order. I’ve started with a fairly basic layout to make it easy on myself. I do love how it turned out though.

{7.18.2013} unity thursday

Happy Thursday

Thursday fun is happening with the Unity design team. If you have been hopping you should have arrived from Joslyn‘s blog, if not, all the action starts on the Unity blog.

We start the brand new Unity {be inspired} challenge for this month.

I am focusing on the colors for today’s card as well as the sketch.

I broke out my watercolor pencils for this one. Can you believe this is the first time I’ve tried the emboss resist technique? It was fun and I’ll definitely have to do this again. Love the effect.

I’m using the fabulous new monthly sentiment kit call Here’s my Thoughts. LOVE the big, funky sayings. They are perfect center stage.

Going to think this card up to the Birthday Card Challenge at the Moxie Fab World too.

It has been awhile since I’ve done a video, so I dusted off the ol’ camera and thought I would share how I created the watercolor emboss resist tag. Hope you enjoy.
