Sweet Sunday Sketch #17

I’m getting a head start on Father’s Day cards.  I like the simplicity of the Sweet Sunday Sketch #17.  I find I have an easier time with “boy” cards if I keep them simple.  Masculine cards are such a challenge.  You just can’t add a flower and move on. This was a major trial and error card.  I initially started with some patterned paper in the background, but it looked so busy.  I took that all away and went with some texture on the cardstock instead.  To mimic the sketch, I scored two lines and then inked them.  Ran the …

Chocolate, Rose, Mustard and White… oh my.

So I decided I wanted to try my hand at the Mojo Challenge this week, plus using K Werner Design and Caardvarks for inspiration.  Here is their sketch. I turned the sketch sideways and came up with this. For some inspiration on colors, I used the Color Inspiration #51 from KWerner Design.  What a color combo, chocolate, rose, mustard and white!!!  And I thought #50 was a challenge.  Yellow is really not a color I enjoy, but I needed some inspiration so went with it. The front of the card is trimmed about 1 and 1/4 inches so it reveals …

I {heart} Trees…

Update… I totally forgot to mention which challenges I am entering this in.  I used both the Sweet Sunday #16 sketch and CPS Challenge sketch combined into one.  I was inspired by Lucy, England too. Here is the link to her card http://www.flickr.com/photos/30551735@N05/3460010064/ and submitted it to the Hero Arts Blog challenge as well.  This was a full combined effort for a card.  I love how it turned out though.  Amazing how so many different inspirations can go into just one little card. I didn’t use an owl, shocker I know.  It was hard, but my owls are tired and …

Thinking of you…

I decided to try my hand at a Cuttlebug Challenge inspired by Jennier McGuire this week.  I really thought this is going to be easy and had an idea in my mind.  It did not go the way I had planned. I have a major case of the dropsies and butterfingers today.  Everything I picked up either fell, spilled, didn’t work right or I flubbed and cut wrong.  Ugh.  For examples, I cut my card base and scored so hard it tore in half.  While putting my set of Colorbox inks away, they flipped out of my hand and split …

Happy National Scrapbook Day!!!

Happy National Scrapbook Day!  Did you know or have you been planning for weeks on what you will be working on? I am hoping to be able to devote some time to card making today. I have a busy day.  I need to take one of my girls (a mixed pup named Ella) to the vet.  She has a follow up and that will take up a bunch of time this morning.  Plus some other errands, so I’m hoping to get some time in the afternoon to really work on some things. I have lots of ideas in my head …
