[7.13.17] Unity Thursday

Happy Thursday Friends!

It is time again for some more THURSDAY fun with the Unity design team. Unity has lots of lovely new stamps releasing this week and we can’t wait to share what we’ve been creating. If you haven’t been hopping along, all the action starts on the Unity blog.

First up, this darling little puppy.

So stinkin’ cute. He is just a little part of the big kit called Happy Happy Joy Joy. So many great images to choose from, but that little puppy was calling my name. I used some Distress Inks to blend the background and kissed it with a heart background to remove some of the ink. Love that subtle hint of hearts. The sentiment is from the kit of the month – Time to Enjoy Life. This was my first time trying out Nuvo drops, I even practiced before placing them on my card. I need more practice. Haha. That is ok though, I do love the idea of these enamel like dots, so I’ll keep trying. Maybe once I get the technique down, I’ll share video.

Another cutie pie of a stamp for this card from the new kit Patients and Hugs. I stamped that little bunny 4 times and then used a die cut to make sure they were evenly spaced. A little bit of Copic coloring helps those little bunnies pop. I love how so many Unity stamp kits can be mixed and matched. The sentiment is from Sometimes I wonder. All together it is just a sweet happy card.

[7.3.2017] Birthday Owl

Hello!

Just popping in with a couple of cards to share. Unity Stamp Company is having a bit of sale this weekend and released a couple new stamp sets. One of those is the brand new sentiment kit for July… Hugs, Kisses & Birthday Wishes.

Birthday cards are by far the MOST cards I make. I’m always trying to keep up with demand. It just made sense that Owlie needed to be turned in to a birthday stamp with lots of sentiments. SO many to choose from. Up first, is this one with Copic coloring and washi tape accents. I love the combo of navy and orange, so I colored my balloons and luckily I had washi to match.

A gray owl, what?!?! Too cute right? I really wanted my owl and papers to match, so I went with a gray owl. I love how he turned out. With the orange and pink balloons, he really stands out. Again, I used my Copics to color the stamp and then popped up the sentiment heart balloon. I love how interactive that heart can be.

[5.4.17] Unity Thursday BIRTHDAY Hop

Happy 9th Birthday Unity

Thanks for hopping with the Unity Design team today. Unity Stamp Co turns 9 this month and we are celebrating BIG TIME!!! Isn’t that exciting. If you haven’t been hopping along, all the action starts on the Unity blog.

I can’t believe Unity is NINE!!! I hope you’ll indulge me as I reminisce a bit (you are welcome to scroll on down to my projects).  I started my Unity journey with the June 2009 Kit of the Month (see below). I honestly can’t remember the exact date I found Unity, but it was probably a month or two before signing up for this kit. I couldn’t wait for it to arrive and when it did it was love at first sight and I was a gonner.

I was then asked to join the {ippity} design team, a sister company to Unity, in April 2010. Then, I eventually joined the Unity Design team in April 2011. So, these past 8 years with Unity have been AMAZING. They are my family and I absolutely love and adore EVERYONE involved. From those who work at Unity to the girls I have and had the pleasure to work alongside on the design team. It’s been a dream. Then, just last week, a HUGE dream came true. I met these amazing ladies.

YES, finally! I was able to hug them all!!! I cried… and laughed and hugged… a lot. It was the best night ever. I think Stephanie said it best — you just hope that when you meet “internet” friends that they are just as sweet and amazing as they seem to be online. In reality, these girls were and SO MUCH more. I only wish Angela and Whit weren’t so far now.

This lady and you all know who she is. Angela is EXACTLY who’d you think she would be. LOVING, genuine, INSPIRING, strong, beautiful and the kind of friend you never want to let go. I am so thankful to have her in my life. She has taught me MUCH and has always been so generous. She is an inspiration and someone I look up to and I can’t THANK HER enough for allowing me to be a small part of her business and for being my FRIEND. I love and adore you Angela. ❤️

Ok, ENOUGH sappiness. Haha. Onto the AMAZING stamp sets I have to share. I can’t wait, there are some stunning new stamps releasing this week.

Happy Snail Mail

This is the brand new May 2017 sentiment kit – Happy Snail Mail designed by me. Isn’t he cute? He is going to be super for just because cards, belated birthday (I had to include that because I’m always behind on sending cards) and so much more. He’s super as a line image or if you want to color him up. Just happiness all around.

I embossed the stamp & sentiment with white embossing powder. Layered some die cuts, added some washi, enamel dots and a little paper clip with a bow. It’s just adorable and I made this card for one of my most favorite people evah.

There is You

Phyllis Harris images are just magical and so nostalgic. I absolutely adore this little girl day dreaming in a little field of flowers.

I started out with some simple and subtle patterned papers to layer some vellum over with the stamped image. I die cut the blue paper and placed it over the vellum to hide the glue and tied a bit of string. There is a hidden girl stamped on white paper under the vellum. It just helps her pop more so you can see all her lovely details.

This beauty is currently not available for purchase. BUT, you can get her FREE with a $75+ purchase during the birthday sale. After the Birthday Sale ends, she will be added to the website eventually as a kit for purchase. She is quite lovely. I kept her as a black and white image and then at the last minute decided to color the flowers on the cake. I’m glad I did, they just add a bit more color to the whole card and pulls the pink out of the washi borders.

[4.5.2017] Unity Stamp Company Blog Hop

Surprise, the Unity design team is HOPPING tonight!!!  Woo hoo.  If you haven’t been hopping along, all the action starts on the Unity blog.  There’s always fun stuff going on.

My post today is all about Unity Sentiment Kits and making card sets. I have decided I need to make more than one card a time from now on. Haha. My stash was low and I had some requests from family who were in need of cards too. Eeeeks. TIME TO GET STAMPING. Lots of cards to see using 3 different sentiment kits.

Girl Truly

This is the brand new sentiment kit for April 2017 – Girl Truly. it is full of lovely little sentiments to go with those big beautiful flowers. I made a large set of these cards – 12 to be exact – with a variety of sentiments. I watercolored each one and it went very quick since I didn’t have to be super exact with my watercoloring. These large flowers allow for a lot of freedom. I did all the flowers first, then all the leaves and the background last. That gave time between each color change for some drying. I wrapped the vellum sentiment around the center panel and popped it up. The sequins were added last with a bit of glossy accents to hold them tight.

Special Wishes

This is another one of my favorite sentiment kits from December 2016 – Special Wishes. I love the vintage look of it. The flowers are cut separate, so you can choose how wide apart you want them around the sentiments. My Misti came in handy for these cards!!! Again, I made quite the stack. First, I stamped the sentiment on a die cut panel. Then, I stamped the background text on the card base. Don’t you love how that text matches the vintage look of the stamp. So pretty. I have a stack of scrap papers from when I cover a card front with patterned paper. they are about 1.75 inches wide. I decided to use those up, by trimming them down a bit so they were just smaller than my panel, glue it to the card front and then popped my string tied panel up on the card. Super easy to make a bunch of these up. For some, I added a few pearls to dress them up a little.

I Consider You Special

Last, I have this “little” set using the August 2016 sentiment kit – I Consider You Special. It is another one of my go to favorite kits. You can’t get any simpler than this design. I covered the card base with patterned paper and then used the leftover scrap to create a panel on another card. Mixed and matched them up. I stamped a doily and sentiment from the kit onto a die cut panel, wrapped some string around it and popped it up on the card. So easy peasy, thus my stack for this set was really large.

[3.2.17] Unity Thursday

Hello…

The Unity Design them hops ONCE a MONTH now and it is that time again. I love these big hops, so much beautiful things to see. If you haven’t been hopping along, all the action starts on the Unity blog.  There’s always fun stuff going on.

I’m using the brand new March 2017 sentiment kit – Bunny Keep You Forever today. He’s my creation and I hope you find him floppy and adorable. There are tons of stamps included so he could be used for lots of different occasions or grab a sentiment from a different kit as well. That is what I love about Unity, these images and sentiments mix and match so well.

I went with a birthday theme since I ALWAYS need birthday cards and I still have some littles we send cards too. This floppy bunny is colored (or I should say shaded) with Copic markers. I wanted to keep him as white as could be so just used some gray markers to add the slightest bit of a shadow. Then, I fussy cut him out, popped him up above the sentiment and added a bow of course. Not too bulky for mailing.
