[1.19.14] Wanna Sketch Returns

Wanna Sketch no. 12

Woo hoo, hello 2014… I’m ready to get this sketchy party started, how about you?  It was a nice little break over the holidays, but I’ve missed crafting with all of you and Wanna Sketch!  So, I have a fun sketch to challenge you this month and I can’t wait to see what your crafty minds come up with.

Eeek, totally fun right?  I love how those circles could be just about anything.  I was thinking confetti, polka dots, rain, constellations… who knows.  In the end, I settled on raindrops.  They happen to fit the theme of THIS week’s stamp of the week by Unity Stamp Co.  Don’t you just love those little rain boots.  I sure do.

So, let’s talk about embossing paste.  A HUGE trend going on right now.  Honestly, I was hoping it would disappear and wouldn’t be so popular.  What, did I just say that?  Yup, I did and not because I don’t love the idea.  It is because I totally LOVE it.  Being a huge fan of texture, embossing paste is the ultimate form of texture.  I just didn’t want to have to invest in another “trend” if it wasn’t sticking around.  Well, it seems to be hanging around, so I finally caved and got my toes wet.

I have a few stencils from my spray ink attempts collecting dust.  So, I pulled one of those out and got to work.  Luckily, it wasn’t too hard and really not too messy.  Uh oh, I liked it.  Lol.  Once the paste dried, I replaced the stencil and used some ink with a finger dauber to add some color.  Last, I stamped my sentiment and added my paper pieced rain boots.

Are you ready to take this sketch on???  The linky will stay open until Friday, February 14, 2014 {11:55pm PT}.
Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

This is fabulous Lisa, love reading about your take on the embossing paste. I picked up a container of the stuff and still haven’t made the dive yet…thanks for the inspiration!

Great card! I almost invested in embossing paste (or, at least, UTEE) a few years ago, then thought the same as you — something else to invest in? I could have been so ahead of the trend… 😀 Works so perfectly here for your sketch. And cute rain boots!

Hi Lisa, I’ve been on a blogging break and just trying to catch up on some visiting. Your card and sketch are terrific. I recently tried the embossing paste and LOVE it! I’ve been using it on my art journals but haven’t tried it on a card yet.
