kit of the month - Layers of Life - Unity Blog Hop - Unity Stamp Company

{8.1.2013} unity thursday = fun

another BIG day for UNITY

Thursday fun is happening with the Unity design team.  If you have been hopping you should be arriving from Joslyn‘s blog, if not, all the action starts on the Unity blog.  And you can find any sale details there as well.

The first of the month is always full of action for Unity.  We have a brand new August kit of the month, SMAK kit & Layers of Life (LOL).  Ufdah, that is a lot of new stamps!!!  You can see ALL of these new kits on the WEBSITE.

I inked up the brand new Layers of Life (LOL) for this card…

ever changing

I used the lovely background stamp from the LOL kit first.  Isn’t it pretty in that soft blue color.

I tried something new and consider it a flop (as in, I won’t be doing it again).  I used some white Vibez spray mist and tried to mix it with a Hero Arts ink on my acrylic block.  Then tried to flick it onto my card.  I like the color and the flicking, but it seemed to spread and alter the color of the patterned paper.  Maybe that was my error, trying it on patterned paper.  The tea stain effect works with the vintage look of the card, so I left it.

I layered the rose from the Totally & Utterly Amazing kit of the month on top.  I stamped it again, colored it, added a little glitter and then pop it up at an angle on the card.  It adds a little more interest to the card when you can see the stamped rose on the card underneath.  I added the sentiment and tab last.  Aren’t they sweet?

I also have a card from one of the new Back to School/Teacher releases called Apple Stamping.

LOVE how this apple can be stamped in two parts for a fun shading effect.  I actually stamped it in red first and then a pinkish color over the top.  Once that dried, I layered some watercolor pencil over the top to add additional shading.  Turned out pretty neat.  Even if you don’t have a teacher to give a card too, I adore this saying — love ya to the core.

  1. I love both cards!! I don’t see the mess-up on the first card. I love how you stamped the apple over the heart on the second one! Great job as always! 🙂

  2. Lisa, you transform stamps into works of art. These turned out beautiful. The apple amazes me how different and artsy it is. Beautiful work. 🙂

  3. Great cards! I have to say I’m biased towards the second one because I have to have that apple stamp!

  4. On the first card, I really like the blue you chose to stamp with. On the second card, my favorite parts are the faux stitching and the twine! Both are very pretty!

  7. What great cards, but I do favor the first one. 🙂 Wow, what a great way to list your supplies – love it!

  8. Always love your cards. I never think to layer my stamps. Pinning to remember to do this

  9. AHHHHH! The first card – that tab – that ROSE, omg! And that apple card…omg again. LOVE the amazing colours you came out with, and that sentiment is too awesome for so many people 🙂

  10. WOW Lisa you have been so busy. I’ve been cruising back doing a little catch up on your blog and as always you are an inspiration. Love the blue stamped background and the fab tag on the first card and the apple heart really is adorable especially with that fun sentiment.
