[3.31.2016] Unity Thursday
It is the END of the month and the Unity design team is HOPPIN’. If you haven’t been hopping along, all the action starts on the Unity blog. I’m sharing all the cards I’ve made this month using the fabulous new releases for March. There are quite a few, so bear with me and most of all, I hope you enjoy.
Up first, these unbearably adorable cards.
This happy guy comes from the Yippee Skippy set. So great for kids and adults alike. By adding a simple birthday greeting from the So Glad You Were Born sentiment kit, I’m all set for my one of my littles birthdays. I have a quick video for this guy on how to create the “fur” texture using Copic markers. You can watch it below or at YOUTUBE.
Since I used Mr. Skippy, I had to use Bear-ly Enough too. Inside I’ll stamp a birthday greeting. I have another quick video showing how I created the SUPER easy, SUPER quick grass and sky background. You can watch it below or at YOUTUBE.
This has to be one of the sweetest little butterflies ever in the Flutters and Prayers stamp set. I just adore it. It deserved to be the star of the card, so I colored it in a bold teal color with a hint of pink using Copic markers. My favorite thing to do with butterflies is to pop up the wings. It adds so much dimension. Plus, with this technique, when you mail the card the wings will lay flat and can be fluffed back up once received. I have another quick video on how to create those popped up wings below or you can watch it at YOUTUBE.
My last two cards use the March 2016 sentiment kit Sometimes I Wonder. Secretly, this is one of my most FAVORITE sentiment kits I’ve designed. Just something about those flowers and bird that I really, really love. I had some fun sneaking in some silly sentiments as well. Both cards are colored with watercolor – the top vase is done with Distress Inks and a waterbrush, the bottom bird was done with Kuratake Gamsai Tambi watercolors and a paint brush. Two totally different mediums, but both with beautiful watercolor results.
It has been a long post, thanks for hanging in till the end.
