Watercolor Background with Texture

The Details

First, I wanted to create a textured background for Winter Birdie Swag. I’m all about making it easy on myself, so I selected some leaves from the Embrace the Change stamp set to stamp my background.

Technique: Heat emboss the stamped images in white on watercolor paper. Then, smoosh the panel into some watered down ink on a mat. Once you lift it up you’ll see the magical watercolor appear. Check out the video for all the inky details.

Tip: Play around with different colors and how many times you dry and re-smoosh the panel back into the ink. You’ll get a different look each time.

Watercoloring the Stamped Image

The Details

For the second card, I left the watercolor Winter Birdie Swag the star of the card and simply die cut it into a rectangle and popped up on a matching scallop frame.

Technique: Watercolor with Distress Ink using a paintbrush. Check out the video for all the details.

Technique tip: You can use the coloring tips in the video with different dye inks or other watercolor mediums.
