2 Easy Background Techniques | Sympathy Christmas Cards

Unity Stamp Company has released a lovely sympathy Christmas set. It can be difficult to know what to send after the loss of a loved one at Christmas. This set has heartfelt sayings to include the loved ones who are no longer with us. I’m sharing 2 easy to create background techniques to highlight the images in this set.

The Cards

The Details

White on kraft has a very peaceful feel to it and seemed to compliment the feeling of the stamp set. To get a nice crisp white, I stamped in white ink and then heat embossed in white as well. It really pops against the kraft cardstock.

Technique Tip: Mask off part of your background to narrow down the background. This is a great effect when you have a busy background or you don’t want to compete with your main stamped panel.

Technique Tip: After using an embossing folder on your cardstock, light rub an ink cube over the raised pattern. This creates both texture and color for your background.
