An Easy Background Blending Hack + Eclipse Technique (with video)

Today’s cards are all about an easy background blending hack. I pulled out some of my favorite Unity Stamp Company stamp sets and got to work making these colorful birthday cards.

The Card

The Details

I stamped my trees and moon on some white cardstock. Once the ink was dry, I used Distress Inks to create that blended background.

Ink Blending Hack: I love the amazing ink coverage of these backgrounds and it took minimal blending. To get a fast and intense blend, swipe your ink pad directly onto your paper in bands of color. Then use your blending brush to combine the 3 bands of color together for an amazing blend.

Distress ink combo no. 1: saltwater taffy, salvaged patina, villainous potion
Distress ink combo no 2: picked raspberry, mustard seed, peacock feathers

Eclipse Technique: Once all the background blending was done, I die cut out a heart from the center and popped it up. It adds some dimension to the front of the card without a lot of bulk.

A couple of simple birthday sentiments and star sequins finished everything off.
