Santa is so Judgy!

What I absolutely love about this card is how it pairs a sassy sentiment with a hilariously disgruntled kitty to deliver a fresh twist on traditional holiday cheer. The star of the show, our snarky kitty, is brought to life with Copic coloring, giving the image depth, texture, and a whole lot of attitude.

What makes this card special?

  • Copic Coloring Magic:
The key to making this Ho Ho No Pissy Kitty look extra fluffy and grumpy is all in the Copic coloring technique. Start by laying down a base layer with light grey tones (C1, C2) to map out the fur’s direction. Then, gradually build up the texture with darker shade (C4), flicking your marker to mimic the fur’s flow. Don’t forget to leave some areas untouched to create natural highlights. The kitty’s intense expression is accentuated by adding a deeper contrast around the eyes and mouth with a touch darker grey (C5), ensuring those judgy vibes come through loud and clear! Add a bit of color to the hat with a red tone (R29). Last, add a few white pen highlights to make the coloring pop.
  • Plaid Background with a Punch:
The green plaid pattern is not just a backdrop but a bold statement that contrasts beautifully with the black and white image. It adds a cozy yet vibrant holiday feel that perfectly offsets the kitty’s grumpiness. When choosing your background, go for a design that complements your main image without overwhelming it. This plaid is the perfect blend of festive and funky, making the entire card pop!
  • Finishing Touches:
To add a bit of dimensional interest, I’ve used red enamel dots that echo the kitty’s Santa hat, tying the color scheme together. These little accents are like the cherry on top, providing just the right amount of festive flair without overshadowing our favorite cranky kitty.
