World’s Best Dad

This little bunny was so fun to bring to life by combining Copic coloring with paper piecing. I picked some digital papers that felt perfect for my outdoorsy dad, including this fun bear pattern for his robe. The layout is super simple but still has some texture and interest thanks to those torn edges layered with bold stripes. A great mix of playful and rugged for a card full of personality.

Creative Tips & Techniques:

• Torn Edge Layers: Tearing the paper adds soft texture and interest, keeping the design casual and fun while drawing the eye to the center.
• Let’s Talk Paper Piecing: I stamped the bunny three times—once on the main background panel, once on white cardstock for coloring, and once on the bear pattern paper for the robe. After coloring the bunny, I fussy cut both him and the robe, then edged each piece with a black marker to create a clean, seamless look before layering them together.
• Layer with Purpose: A simple layout gets a boost with thoughtful layering. Torn edges help frame the center without overwhelming the design.
• Keep Coloring Loose: This sleepy guy looks best with soft shading and relaxed coloring. No need to be super precise—just let the character shine.
• Bold Pattern Paper Sides: The striped edges add just the right pop of color and energy, giving the card a cheerful feel to balance the sleepy bunny.
