Sweet Sunday Sketch #17

I’m getting a head start on Father’s Day cards.  I like the simplicity of the Sweet Sunday Sketch #17.  I find I have an easier time with “boy” cards if I keep them simple.  Masculine cards are such a challenge.  You just can’t add a flower and move on.

This was a major trial and error card.  I initially started with some patterned paper in the background, but it looked so busy.  I took that all away and went with some texture on the cardstock instead.  To mimic the sketch, I scored two lines and then inked them.  Ran the side and back of the card through the Cuttlebug Argyle embossing folder and then inked the top to help define the texture.  I put a couple small notches in the top and bottom to help keep the twine in place.

I also completed the inside (go me)!  The plaid paper was going to go on the front.  I felt horrible I cut it then decided not to use it and didn’t want to waste it.  So inside the card it went!

LOVE this Father’s Day card – it’s sooo perfect! I really like how you flipped the sketch on its side too, it gives it a whole new look. Fantastic card!

Your comments really make my day, thank you!
