Hi there, friends. I love a funny birthday card, and the new Party Pup stamp set from Unity Stamp Company might be my favorite party face ever. This card came together with just a bit of watercolor, some happy pattern paper, and a few stash-friendly punches.

Zig Zag Layers and a Side Eye
I started by coloring the pup with Distress Watercolor Pencils. I kept it loose and soft so the sketchy lines could still show through. The pink balloon and blue chair felt fun and balanced without taking over. I used the Zig Zag Rectangles die to cut the panel and give it a playful edge.

The papers are from the Oh Hey! It’s Your Day! paper pack. I layered a few strips together and liked how the colors worked without needing to match too much. I grabbed an old tab punch and added a little heart on top for a small detail in the corner. It’s a nice spot to pull your eye across the card and tie in the other colors.
I wrapped red twine around the top and tied a quick bow. It’s a nice way to add texture without adding bulk. The sentiment fit just right above the pup and really makes the whole card come together. It’s a clean and simple layout but still feels full of personality.
What Makes This Card Special:
- That Face: The pup’s expression carries the whole card and sets the tone instantly.
- Zig Zag Edge: Just a small detail that helps the white panel stand out.
- Pattern Layer Stack: Mixing a few prints in bold colors gives the background energy without needing more stamping.
- Offset Tab and Heart: Tucking this in the corner pulls the whole layout together.
- Clean Layout: Everything is spaced and balanced so the image stays the focus.
This funny birthday card came together fast with just a few layers, some stash punches, and one very party-pooped pup. It’s a great one to pull out when you want something playful without overthinking it. Are you more likely to go funny or sweet when you make birthday cards?
