Hi friends! I am getting a head start on easy Christmas cards, and using a card kit like this makes it so much easier because everything already works together. The Dear Santa Mega Kit from Spellbinders is packed with so many goodies, and I was kind of amazed by everything included. I made 12 cards to share as inspiration for combining the kit contents in different ways, with simple tools, easy layers, and lots of Christmas card ideas you could use with this kit or pieces from your own stash.
Here is a quick look at all the kit & cards.

Gift Card Pocket with Layers

This one is actually a gift card holder, which makes it extra useful for Christmas. I trimmed off the right side of the card front and glued it inside to create a pocket. I also used a smaller strip of scrap paper and used a ¾” punch to add that cute little notch. The chipboard frame, ephemera, and patterned paper do all the decorating, and I added the sentiment on the side. It works on the front and the inside!
Ornament Gift Card Holder
Here’s another gift card holder, but this one leans into the ornament pieces. The gold cardstock strip separates the front flap from the inside of the card and gives the design a clean break. It is a simple detail, but it makes the layers feel more intentional.
Santa Gift Card Holder
This Santa-themed gift card holder has such a fun mix of pieces from the kit. The chipboard frame holds santa and his tree perfectly. I love how the gold cardstock picks up the gold foiling in the ephemera and helps the whole design feel tied together too.
Plaid Paper and Easy Layers

This card is all about the plaid paper combo. I love when patterned papers already feel like they belong together, because then you can keep the rest simple. A few pieces of ephemera and a sentiment are enough to make the whole card feel festive and done.
A Little Note to Santa

Dear Santa…. I love all the postage and letter-themed ephemera in this kit. I chose a solid red background so all the elements would pop. I tucked in the little stamps behind and above for extra dimension and interest to the simple design. So quick, easy, and lovely.
Believe Up the Side

I love the unexpected placement of the chipboard Believe sentiment on this one. Running it up the side gives the card a different look without needing a complicated layout. It is simple, but that one choice makes the whole card feel more interesting.
Handmade Banner Detail

The banner on this card was made from solid cardstock and notched with scissors, which is such an easy little trick. I drew a small pencil mark in the center, then cut from each corner up to that mark to make the notch. The puffy sticker sentiment and little dots sit right on top, and the folded patterned paper tab adds a fun finished detail.
Modern Strips and Puffy Stickers

This one feels a little more modern and playful with the cardstock strips and puffy stickers tucked into the corner. It is a great reminder that you do not need a big focal point on every card. A few strips, a sentiment, and some cute little accents can carry the design.
Deer in the Snow

That darling deer ephemera absolutely needed to be the star. I added torn white cardstock layers for snow and white splatters in the background to make it feel like snow is falling around him. It is still easy, but those little texture details give the card so much charm.
Torn Paper Christmas Morning

This one reminds me of all the torn wrapping paper on Christmas morning, and I kind of love that. The ripped paper layers give it a playful holiday feel, but the sentiment and ephemera in the center keep everything pulled together.
Hanging Ornaments

I did pull an arch die and gold thread from my stash for this one, because those ornament pieces were begging to hang from something. The arch hides the tops of the thread, but you could use any die shape to create a window. Once the ornaments, sentiment pieces, and gemstones were arranged, it had such a pretty hanging ornament feel.
Dear Santa Envelope

This card uses a few coordinating Dear Santa pieces that are not included in the box but are in the Dear Santa Collection. I used the Happy Post Envelope Etched Dies to hold the little Dear Santa letter and decorated with some ephemera and the gold cardstock sentiment from the Merry Greetings Etched Dies. I used the letter die from the Happy Post Envelope to create the textured background by die cutting in different directions. I love the fun texture and pattern it created.
This is just a little sampling of what you can create from one amazing box, and I still had TONS of pieces left to play with.
A card kit like this makes it so easy to get a head start on Christmas cards, especially when the papers, ephemera, frames, stickers, and gems already work together. Try one of these layouts with this kit or dig into your stash and see what little pieces you can mix and match.
