Makin’ Simple Florals Feel Dramatic

Hi friends! Today’s card is all about making simple daisies feel dramatic with one deep, moody watercolor background. I adore white daisies, so I wanted to keep them bright and let the color around them bring the dramatics. Dramatic Daisy Watercolor

Can you believe this is just two ink colors? The deep Distress Ink Uncharted Mariner watercolor gives those white daisies the contrast they needed, and the little touch of Mustard Seed keeps them bright and happy. I started with ink from the cube smooshed on my mat, but it was too soft. The reinker gave me that rich color right away, and I love how it moved with the water.

For the layers, I kept things simple on purpose. I die cut my daisy panel using a Zig Zag stitched rectangle die sideways so I’d have a stitched top and bottom. The torn cardstock adds texture without making the card busy, and the vellum gives everything a softer break behind the watercolor panel. It is a small thing, but it keeps the card from feeling too heavy.

That little sentiment corner is my favorite finish. The postage die cut sentiment, the vellum heart, and the loopy string die cut ties back to the background paper. Just enough detail, but the daisies are still the main focal point of the card.

Next time you have a floral stamp that feels a little too soft, try giving it a darker watercolor background and let that contrast do the work. It is such an easy way to make simple flowers feel more beautifully dramatic.
