3 Colorful Book Themed Card Ideas | August My Monthly Hero

I love to read, so the Little Library August My Monthly Hero kit from Hero Arts made my heart so very happy. All those tiny book details pulled me right in, especially the shelves, bookmarks, and little library checkout cards. Those cards brought back so many memories of going to the library and actually filling them out before everything went digital.

A Tiny Shelf of Color

I mean, a tiny row of colorful books on a little shelf? How cute are they? I kept this first card very clean and simple so those books could be the focus. I almost made the shelf white, but the pink gave it a little more pop and added just the right amount of sweetness. The tiny heart and sentiment underneath finished it off without making the card feel too busy. It would be fun to do this one again in a completely different color palette in moody colors for those that like murder mysteries. 

Masking a Colorful Background

For the second card, I stepped things up with a little masking and covered the background with overlapping library checkout cards. Stamping them in rainbow color made that pile so much more fun. Since the background already had plenty going on, I kept the sentiment simple and added only the tiny heart and paperclip. That little paperclip might be one of my favorite details. I kinda want a whole care of them now.

Stepping It Up with Die Cut Layers

The third card has the most going on, mostly because there was a whole lot of die cutting and layering involved. The row of colorful bookmarks along the bottom was such a fun place to start, and then I layered the flowers over top. I love that you can still see all those little bookmark shapes peeking out underneath. It turned into such a sweet, dreamy birthday card for someone who loves a good page turner.
