A shaker card hanging right off the edge? I had to try that.
I’ve been seeing these fun off the edge shakers lately. They look like so much fun and sparked the idea for today’s card. The sweet little couple from Unity Stamp Company felt perfect for it, especially with that big heart as the shaker.

Taking the Shaker Off the Edge
I wanted the heart shaker to frame this cute little couple and be the only pop of color. Keeping everything else black and white made the design feel sweet, simple, and a little unexpected with that heart hanging off the edge.
For the shaker, I used a heart die from my stash and positioned it partly off the side of the card. Pink cardstock went behind the opening, and cellophane created the shaker pocket. I bought those sheets a few years back when edge-to-edge shakers were all the rage. Sometimes having too many supplies is a good thing. Check out the video to see how you create the shaker pocket with the cellophane sheets.
I stamped and fussy cut the little couple, left them uncolored, and popped them up over the shaker. I’m in love with these little clay hearts. Isn’t it so sweet placed above the couple instead of the stamped one in the image? I also skipped a sentiment on the front. I’m not sure who this card is for yet, and I like letting the little scene say everything on its own for now. I’ll add the perfect message inside later.
This was such a fun little idea to play with, and now I’m wondering why I don’t take my shaker shapes off the edge more often. I love when one small change makes a familiar technique feel fresh again.
