2 Easy Interactive Cards that Swivel and Spin!

Do you love cards that move as much as I do? These two easy interactive cards are bringing all the fun today.

Swivel Wheel Needle Action

Did you have a record player growing up? I remember mine so clearly. It was colorful, and I played my records over and over. That little memory definitely came along for this card, because I wanted it bright, playful, and full of fun movement. The bold colors are doing exactly what I wanted here too. Bright pink, aqua, lime, and black make the whole thing feel retro and happy. Perfect for solid gold wishes.

The arm on this record player swivels up and down, so it holds the card closed and then moves out of the way to open it. I made my own little “swivel wheel,” which is my very technical term. A little cardstock, a few punches, and suddenly the card has motion. I love when something simple does something so clever.

Inside the card, I masked off the shape to match the record flap and added a bit of stenciling. I love that you can see a little peek of that pattern from the front, and then it shows up again when the card opens. It is such a small detail, but it makes the inside feel connected to the outside. And there is still space for me to leave a message.

Record Player Spin Action

You must check out the video to see this card spin. I love how these card spinner elements make it so easy to make the record look like it is turning on a record player. You just glue it in place, give it a spin, and there it goes. So fun.

I wanted the card base to look like a record player, so I added some soft stenciling to the center rectangle and rounded two corners to give it that feel. It is a simple little detail, but it helps set the whole scene without making the card busy. And the colorful record really pops and catches your eye as it spins.

The record player arm is popped up high enough so the record can spin below it. Such a small detail, but it matters. With that birthday sentiment in the center, I can just imagine the record playing happy birthday and making someone feel extra special on their day.

Try adding one moving piece to your next card and let it do something that fits the theme. A swivel, a spin, a little something that moves. It does not have to be hard to make the card feel extra fun.
