The Card

The Details

I love the variation of poppy options in this set — big ones, small ones, distressed and scripty ones. All the variation is going to be so much fun to play with but I’m focusing on the outlined poppies today. After I stamped them on some watercolor paper, I selected a few Karin Brushmarker Pro pens to paint with.

For the background, I used Artic Blue & Sapphire Blue and I love how it pops against the bold red and peach blooms. Once the background was dry, I started to watercolor the flowers with Soft Peach and Red. Layering both colors until I was happy. I let that dry completely before moving onto my poppin’ hack.

Poppin’ Watercolor Tip: To make your watercolor flowers pop add a bit of ink blending over the top. Just a touch to give those colors a boost and accentuate the watercolor edges. THEN to bring it to the next level, add a bit of white gel pen highlight and your flowers will be really poppin’.
